It’s February, we’re all dreaming of patios and sunshine, and somehow it’s still dark at like 4:30 pm. So naturally, we cope with cocktails.
This Cranberry & Clementine Tequila Sour is basically our attempt to manifest summer while still fully living in winter. It brings together bright citrus, tart cranberry, warming ginger, and smooth tequila in a way that feels fresh, cozy, and uplifting all at once. It’s not a beach vacation… but it definitely helps.
The magic here comes from Berry & Brine’s cranberry orange ginger shrub. It adds this gorgeous tangy backbone with subtle spice that plays beautifully with sweet-tart freshly squeezed clementine juice. Add lemon, triple sec, and tequila, and suddenly you’ve got a sour that feels layered, balanced, and dangerously drinkable.
And then there’s the egg white. Don’t be scared — it’s what gives this cocktail that silky foam and luxurious mouthfeel. One sip and you’ll understand why sours just aren’t the same without it.
This is the drink you make when winter feels endless and you need a little mood boost. It’s bright, refreshing, and has just enough warmth from the ginger to feel comforting. Shake one up for cocktail hour, girls’ night, or whenever you need a tiny reminder that sunshine still exists somewhere.
Trust me — this one’s a February lifesaver.
Silver tequila keeps things clean and crisp, letting the citrus and shrub shine. It adds brightness without overpowering the delicate fruit flavours.
Recommendation: 100% agave blanco tequila.
Fresh lemon juice provides that classic sour backbone, balancing sweetness and adding brightness to every sip.
Recommendation: Fresh-squeezed lemon.
Sweet-tart clementine juice brings winter citrus vibes and natural sweetness that softens the sharper edges of the lemon and tequila.
Recommendation: Freshly squeezed clementine.
Triple sec adds subtle orange notes and sweetness, helping bridge the citrus flavours and round out the cocktail.
Recommendation: Cointreau or quality triple sec.
This shrub delivers tangy cranberry, bright orange, and gentle ginger spice. It’s the heart of this cocktail, adding depth, acidity, and serious winter character.
Recommendation: Berry & Brine cranberry orange ginger shrub.
Egg white creates that dreamy foam and silky texture that makes a sour feel luxurious. It doesn’t affect flavour — just mouthfeel and presentation.
Recommendation: Fresh egg white or pasteurised carton egg whites.

This Cranberry & Clementine Tequila Sour is pure winter therapy in a glass — bright citrus, tangy shrub, smooth tequila, and silky foam coming together in perfect balance. It’s refreshing, comforting, and exactly what you need when February feels endless. Shake one up and let yourself pretend spring is closer than it feels.
Absolutely. The egg white is mainly for texture and that pretty foam, so if you skip it, you’ll still have a delicious drink — just without the creamy top. If you want a similar effect without raw egg, you can use aquafaba (the liquid from canned chickpeas) instead. About ¾ oz works great.
You can batch everything except the egg white and ice. Mix the tequila, citrus, triple sec, and shrub ahead of time and store in the fridge. When ready to serve, shake individual portions with egg white and ice to keep that signature foam.
No worries — mandarin oranges or regular orange juice work just fine. Clementines are sweeter and brighter, but any fresh citrus will still taste great. Just avoid bottled juice if you can.
